Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Feldenkrais Training Programme?

The training is a four-year accredited programme that trains students to become certified practitioners of the Feldenkrais Method. Graduates are qualified to teach both group Awareness Through Movement® (ATM) classes and individual Functional Integration® (FI) sessions.

Can I still attend this training if I don’t want to be a teacher of the Method?

Yes absolutely! Even if you do not intend to teach or practice professionally this training is an incredibly valuable investment in your own personal development and growth.

The training is a process of cultivating curiosity, refined observation and lifelong learning. Many students do the training to develop greater self-awareness, resilience, creativity and confidence—discovering many new possibilities for themselves.

Where will it take place?

The Sussex 14 Feldenkrais training will take place at The Dance Space in Brighton. It is a beautiful, modern venue with fully accessible studios. It is a 10-minute walk from both Brighton station and the beach.

How is the Feldenkrais Training structured?

The Feldenkrais Professional Training Programme comprises 40 training days per year for four years totalling 800 hours of tuition across the full programme.

To support a balanced and sustainable learning experience, the Sussex 14, 2026 training will consist of five training segments.

In Year 1, 4 of these 8-day segments will take place in person.

Training days are six hours in length running from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm, with an hour lunch pause. Sessions are scheduled across both weekdays and weekends.

The first segment of Year 1 in August 2026 will take place online over 6 shorter days.

Will students meet online in-between training segments?

Yes, students will meet online with the training team for several 2 ½ sessions in-between some of the longer gaps between training segments (dates to be confirmed).

These sessions will allow for continuity of learning throughout the training year, when students will be taught Awareness Through Movement lessons and have opportunities to discuss their learning and progress.

How many students are on your trainings?

On average we have student classes of 20-25 students. The training is capped at 32 students.

What is the cost and options for payment?

The training fee is £3500 per training year, and students are invoiced £1750 twice per training year.

If you would rather spread the payments monthly it is fine to pay by monthly standing order.

Do you have accommodation recommendations?
Yes, we have an accommodation list to help guide you. This includes a Homestay/Spare Room section – which is a network of local contacts offering a room within their home (and with kitchen access) providing more budget-friendly rates (£25–£35 per night) for students seeking a more affordable alternative to hotels, guest houses, and traditional B&Bs.
What training material do you provide?

Recordings are included in training fees and comprise:

-Audio recordings of all group Awareness Through Movement lessons, talks and discussions
-Video recordings of individual Functional Integration demonstrations

We also have an onsite Library with a wide range of curated books and learning materials.

What can I expect to learn throughout the training?

The training is a rich and transformative journey of both professional learning and personal discovery.

Through experiencing Awareness through Movement (ATM) and individual lessons in Functional Integration (FI), you will develop a deep understanding of how movement, awareness and learning are connected.

As you explore everyday movement patterns, you will discover greater ease, choice and efficiency in your own body, often leading to profound changes in how you move, think and engage with life.

Alongside your own embodied learning, you will develop the skills and confidence to teach ATM lessons and offer hands-on FI sessions. Anatomy is explored experientially through movement, touch and observation, making it practical, meaningful and directly relevant to function rather than simply theoretical.

You will also engage with the work of Moshe Feldenkrais through talks, discussions, archival videos and original teaching materials, deepening your understanding of the philosophy and principles of the Method.

Why does the training take place over 4 years?

The four-year structure is required by EuroTAB and is standard for accredited training programmes.

This timeline supports a deep and sustained learning process. Through ongoing group ATM and individual FI practice, students develop an embodied and transformative understanding of the Method.

What happens if I join and then can‘t attend a segment?

We recognise that individual circumstances vary, and personalised support is provided to help each student develop the most appropriate plan for completing any missed training requirements.

EuroTAB, the accreditation board, allows student to miss up to 10 days across the four-year programme and no more than 5 days in any one training year. Beyond this students are required to catch up missed training days.

We are fortunate to run two Feldenkrais Professional Training Programmes concurrently, with one programme two years behind the other. This provides students with a valuable opportunity to make up any missed segments by attending the corresponding segment in the alternate training.

An additional benefit of this arrangement is that students can join the equivalent segment, ensuring they receive the same curriculum content and learning experience as their cohort.

In other circumstances students may make up a limited portion of missed training through access to session recordings, with online sessions and with individual support during another training segment.

What happens if I need to leave the training or transfer to another training?

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may mean you are unable to complete the training as hoped. In this situation you would need to notify us in writing and would not be liable to pay fees beyond the time that you leave and FITC would not be liable to refund any fees already paid.

There is the option of being able to catch up further down the line with the next cohort, currently expected to begin in 2028, or to transfer to another approved training.

Assessment

There are no exams or required written work. Students receive ongoing supervised teaching support and feedback on their ATM teaching and FI practice and are encouraged to continue guided practice between training segments.

During the third year students complete an ATM practicum, teaching a small group of fellow students while receiving supportive feedback from the training staff. Successful completion demonstrates the skills required to teach ATM lessons.

During the fourth year, students complete an FI practicum, giving one-to-one lessons under the guidance of experienced trainers allowing students to develop and demonstrate their ability to tailor hands-on lessons to each individual’s needs and integrating the Method’s principles.

Do I purchase or bring any equipment/materials to the training?

No, we provide specialised extra wide Feldenkrais mats, so that you do not need to travel with mats. We also provide specialised Feldenkrais tables, rollers and foams for FI practice.

What are the career opportunities after graduation?

Many graduates go on to establish their own Feldenkrais practice, teaching ATM classes and workshops and offer individual FI lessons.

Some work alongside professionals in rehabilitation and wellness, or with those living with injury and neurological conditions.

Many graduates incorporate the Method into existing professions in education, movement and the arts, coaching and wellbeing, using the Feldenkrais Method to support people in moving with greater ease, confidence and awareness.
